In and Around Lijiang
Once a trading post on the ancient Tea Horse road connecting Yunnan and Tibet, 800 year old-Lijiang now draws city-dwellers in search of a breath of fresh air. The old town, a UNESCO Heritage Site is as lovely as can be: stone bridges, flowering trees, koi-filled canals. Getting lost in the serpentine streets is the best way to appreciate Naxi culture, one of China's most vibrant ethnic minorities. You'll also explore Baisha, the original Naxi capital, and Peach Valley, which owes its name to the peach orchards.
