The Lux Collective is looking for a Director of Operations – China to oversee the operations of current and future projects.

The Director of Operations is of utmost importance and the senior management of The Lux Collective dedicates a lot of time when selecting and recruiting for this role.

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer - APAC, the Director of Operations is the strategic business leader of the properties in China and therefore plays a key role in the success of The Lux Collective as a management company.

The Director of Operations will be our head of operations for China and will act as a primary contact for the operations.

Under the leadership of the COO – APAC, the Director of Operations shall be responsible for implementing the policies and strategic plan of the group and delivering the results as approved by the Board in relation to the Operations in China. He shall ensure attainment of objectives both financial and non-financial and provide direction and leadership to the management towards achievement of the group’s philosophy, vision, mission and strategic goals.

The incumbent will oversee operations excellence, financial performance, successful and timely opening of new projects and/ or any other related tasks assigned in China.

The Director of Operations shall personally be continuously building key partnerships and alliances with the company’s local and international trade partners, influential business partners and stakeholders at large hence the incumbent shall be required to possess an excellent and influential networking both on the local, regional and international scene.

This will include consistent and regular communication with the TLC Executive Committee Members, the General Managers, as well as Hotel Owners.

The incumbent will be the liaison with the owners and also the “face” of TLC and the respective brand at the assigned location.

  • University Degree holder from a recognised international institution in Hotel Management or Business Administration or equivalent qualifications.
  • Postgraduate qualifications such as a Master’s Degree or Executive MBA would constitute a definite advantage.
Previous Performance
  • Minimum of 15 years’ working experience in senior hotel management including 10 years of hotel General Manager experience with Global Luxury Hotel Brands.
  • Robust working experience as Hotel Executive Committee as Regional/Multiple Property Manager is essential.

  • A Chinese national.
  • Flexible to travel within China and abroad.

  • Always shows respect and humility towards Owner(s), Team Members, Guests and Stakeholders.
  • Proven solid experience in all phases of hotel openings is a must.
  • Highest levels of integrity.
  • Proven success in driving commercial strategy to exceed business goals.
  • Thoughtful leadership with the ability to build a strong service culture and positive work environment for Team Members to thrive.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in growing revenue, increasing market share and profitability.
  • Strong experience in managing budgets, revenue management and forecasting.
  • Written and spoken communication skills in Chinese and English languages is a must.
  • Interest in working as part of a small team and growing company, with awareness about the opportunities and challenges that come with a highly flexible environment.
  • Strong ability to exercise professional judgment, maintain high standards of ethics and reach objective opinions in all situations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to interact confidently with a wide range of people and adapt easily to different cultures and personalities.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong ability to get the best use of the different technologies and remain up to date.
  • A clean criminal record is a must.
