A colorful evening to support the NGO Gender Links. That was the objective of the Ray of Light Black Tie Charity Dinner which was held at Tamassa on Friday the 1st of April. This charity event, organized by Gender Links in collaboration with LUX* Resorts & Hotels, was supported by several sponsors. The money raised through participation fees, which amount to Rs 400,000, will be used to finance various projects of this NGO in Mauritius.
"We chose to sponsor this event through Ray of Light, which is an initiative set up as part of our strategy for sustainable development. At LUX* Resorts & Hotels, we have always supported the integration, involvement and participation of everyone to help the community move forward. We welcome the initiative of Gender Links and through this Charity Dinner, we were able to contribute to helping Mauritian women achieve social, emotional and economical independence by giving them the right tools," said Vishnee Payen, Group Sustainability & CSR Manager at LUX* Resorts & Hotels. The latter also thanked the teams of Tamassa and Ray of Light. Their dedication and the sponsors’ help were paramount in making this project a success.
For Gender Links, the Country Manager, Anushka Virahsawmy, chose to remind guests that the funds collected willbe used to directly support beneficiaries. "We are confident that with your support, we can help our beneficiaries andtheir families in a constructive way in order to empower them. We want to train them so that they become mentorsand can in turn help the poor and needy in their community," she underlines.
The evening also included an "American Auction” in which all those present were invited to participate. Various rafflesallowed guests to win prizes such as 2 tickets for a trip to Singapore and a helicopter ride for four people offered by Air Mauritius, a 25 minutes tandem jump (Skydive Mauritius), 4 baskets worth Rs 5,000 each (Innodis, Food & Allied, the Gourmet Emporium, Cascadelle Distribution), a set of saucepans valued at Rs 9000 (Complete Kitchen), 6 bottles of Pommery’s Rosé Champagne (BrandActiv), 1 night for two at Ile aux Deux Cocos, 3 nights for two at LUX* Belle Mare, 2 nights for two people in Tamassa (All Inclusive), 2 nights for two people on half board at LUX* Grand Gaube, as well as several bottles of rum offered by Distillerie Labourdonnais, 1 "Sunset Cruise" for four people offered by JP Henry Catamaran and wine sponsored by PhoenixBev.
