Open to guests and visitors alike and taking place in Mauritius and the Maldives throughout the year, the events draw everyone from international sports professionals to holidaymakers looking for a challenge.
LUX* Resorts & Hotels add adventure to the standard beach holiday, combining the simple pleasures of island life with invigorating activities and events. From a diving festival with world recorder holder, to adrenaline pumping kite surfing and surf ski races, LUX* Sports offer a new take on Mauritius and the Maldives.

Fishing - SIOBC International Fishing Tournament 17 – 23 February 2013, Mauritius
SIOBC is an international annual fishing tournament taking place at the best spots for deep-sea fishing in Mauritius. It has been listed as one of the top competitions within the International Game Fishing association in the South Indian Ocean.
Diving - LUX* Maldives Underwater Festival 15 – 21 April 2013, Maldives
Activities will include underwater photo and video courses, on-the-beach themed film screenings, film editing coaching sessions, as well as free diving and apnea courses. Courses will be led by experts including BBC film director Neil Lucas, television documentary editor Frank Spencer, free diving world record holder Sara Campbell and members of leading diving company Eurodivers.
Running - Royal Raid 35-80Kms Mauritius Mountain Run 11 May 2013, Mauritius
After last year’s success, the Mauritian mountain run returns with two races held simultaneously: a race of 80 km and a race of 35km, both which finish on the beach.
Surf Ski - Mauritius Ocean Classic – Surf Ski World Series 24 – 30 June 2013, Mauritius
The surf ski race has established itself as one of the best of the World Series with coaching available from top champions.
Swimming - Mauritius Open Swim Race and week 03 – 06 July 2013,
The Midmar mile, true world’s largest open water swim race (South Africa) and LUX* Sports launches the first of a ‘World Mile Open Water series’ in Mauritius.
Running - Mauritius Marathon 14 July 2013, Mauritius
The sport challenge takes place on one of the most beautiful tracks in the world: 20km of coastal road along one of the most untouched lagoons on the Island and through typical coastal villages.
Mountain Biking - MTB Cycle Tour 7 –14 July 2013, Mauritius
The 305 km mountain bike route offers a full clockwise circle of Mauritius along its beaches over five days at an average of 60km per day.
Kite Surfing - Kiteival – Kite Surf 18 – 24 August 2013, Mauritius
KITEIVAL takes places on all the best spots on the island, including the most striking lagoons. Open to all level of kiters.
Show Jumping - La Louisa Show Jumping 28-29 September 2013, Mauritius The international jumping show attracts international talents from all over the world, with horses on loan from top local breeders. Tennis - International Tennis Tournament 1 – 6 October 2013, Mauritius Tennis enthusiasts can challenge their favourite celebrities in an exclusive international tournament held in October.
Cycling - 100km DB Cycle Tour 13 October 2013, Mauritius
The tour takes cyclists up the east coast of Mauritius finishing at Mon Choisy Beach in the north. Now a well established event, around 1500 cyclists are expected to take part in the challenge this year. Cycling - Vets and Masters Tour 17 – 20 October, Mauritius This road cycle competition is exclusively reserved to men and women over 30 years old. The cycle tour is a three-day competition, held in three stages 90km, 70km and 80km.
Swimming, Cycling, Running - Indian Ocean Triathlon 23 November 2013, Mauritius
Described by many as ‘the most beautiful triathlon in the world’, the event involves swimming over colourful coral reefs and running under the shade of leafy filao and coconut trees. The playful route draws athletes from all over the world. Cycling - Look Premium Cycling Week 26 November – 01 December 2013, Mauritius .This offers the opportunity and freedom to discover Mauritius through five cycling stages covering a total distance of 430km across the island and along the sweeping coastal roads.
Mountain Biking - Omnicane Southern Tropical Challenge MTB 28 November – 01 December 2013,Mauritius
This challenge gives mountain bikers access the most protected and wild places in Mauritius, which are otherwise inaccessible to tourists. Discover some of the best slopes for mountain biking.
Stand Up Paddle - Stand Up Paddle Challenge 03 – 07 December 2013, Mauritius The Stand Up Challenge in Mauritius is a friendly meeting of Mauritians, sport travellers and professionals.
The contest will result in a speed competition open to all after some physical training in groups.
