A stretch of white beach facing the Indian Ocean, palm trees sashaying in the breeze, clusters of plump red pillows strewn right on the sand: this is Beach Rouge, LUX* Belle Mare’s buzzing seafront hangout; the place to be in Mauritius.
At night, its open-air terrace is an invitation to bliss out to Balearic beats, strikingly red cocktail in hand. This chilled-out setting is the inspiration for BEACH ROUGE, a mix of 15 electrifying deep house tracks by LUX* DJs Dan Lywood and Ben Bridgewater – the jet-setting Londoners behind music consultancy Playlister .
When they’re not gracing Mauritius with guest appearances behind the decks, this trendsetting twosome play at the world’s most sought-after soirées. On their home turf in London, the globe-trotting pair suited up to DJ at the BAFTA’s 2015 star-studded after party. Looking in his element in an impeccable tuxedo, Ben walked the pink carpet at Victoria Secret’s first London show, giving the Angels something to strut to during the pre-show and rocking the after party alongside the legendary Jeremy Healey and glamorous Amber Le Bon.
In Sydney to bring in the new year at the Catalina restaurant with US superstars DJ Spen and Ron Carroll, Dan collaborated with Maison Dauphin for the launch of its second collection of dazzling fine jewellery. Working with cellist Oliver Miller and his string quartet the Noise, as well as percussion outfit Synergy, Dan produced three contemporary classical compositions – a dramatic soundtrack for the collection’s Paris Couture Week debut at the Palais de Tokyo. BEACH ROUGE is the latest volume in the annual Sound of LUX* collection, a mix of laid-back island vibes for guests to enjoy at LUX* resorts and at home. The next volume is already in the works – listen out for it in December.
