Paul Jones

Paul Jones - Chief Executive Officer

With more than 4 decades of international hotel management experience, Paul Jones joined LUX* in 2010, where he quickly established his mark as a charismatic leader, with a unique and passionate approach to hospitality management, centered around People, Culture and Service. 
Paul Jones’ rich career covers various key leadership positions, having served for almost 20 years as Managing Director of the Sun Resorts Group, and later, as President of One&Only, where he was instrumental in successfully growing the brand on a global basis. 

Recognized as a leading figure in the establishment and development of the hotel and tourism industry in Mauritius, Paul Jones was conferred the Dignity of Companion of the Order of St Michael and St Georges by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  He was also awarded one of the highest honours by the President of the Comores, the Chevalier de l'Etoile d'Anjouan, for his significant contribution to the growth and development of the hotel and tourism sector in the Comores. 

Paul Jones directly oversees the Company’s overall strategic direction, spearheading the Group’s global development plans. He holds an MBA with distinction from the University of Surrey & followed the Program for Management Development at The Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality in the UK.

He was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Company on 1st October 2010 and as Director of the Board on 29th September 2011.
Desiree Ellilah

Désiré Elliah - Chief Financial Officer
Born in 1964, Désiré Elliah is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with 26 years experience in auditing, accounting and corporate finance. Before joining the Group in 2004 as Chief Financial Officer, he was a partner of DCDM, the largest accounting firm in Mauritius. He has extensive experience in feasibility studies, financial restructuring, share valuation and due diligence reviews. He was appointed as Director of NRL in October 2004.

Julian Hagger

Julian Ethan Hagger - Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Born in 1970, Julian has a rich career of some 20 years in hospitality of which 14 years in senior management and at corporate level in prestigious international groups such as Belmond (Orient-Express), Ritz-Carlton and Marriott.He is a holder of a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University, U.S.A, and holds a diploma in Swiss Hotel Management from the Hotel Institute of Management (H.I.M), Montreux, Switzerland.Julian is responsible for driving top-line revenue for LUX* Resorts & Hotels and associated businesses, ensuring the strategic priorities of the discipline are aligned and designed to yield profitable sales, increased market share, and enhanced competitive advantage.He was appointed as Director of the Company in February 2012. 

Senior Managers


Marie-Laure Ah-You -  Chief Strategy Officer
Ms Ah-You brings more than 20 years of experience in Hospitality, having held both operational and coporate senior positions.Prior to joining LUX*Resorts, she was the Global Quality Director for the One&Only Resorts Group, based in Dubai. Her career includes extensive international experience, having been involved in more than eight hotel openings and engaged in numerous work assignments in the US, North America, Caribbean, Middle East, Asia and Africa. In her current role, Ms Ah-You is actively involved in the overall Company Strategy development & execution, including future growth plans. She obtained her Master in Economics & Business Management from the University of Paris II.


Nicolas Autrey - Chief Human Resources Officer
Born in 1977, Nicolas Autrey joined the Group in August 2008. Holder of a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Surrey as well as holder of other qualifications in the field of Human Resources, Nicolas Autrey has more than 14 years’ experience in the Human Resources field, having already worked in the Textile, Commercial and Hospitality sectors before joining the group. He is also a Member of different committees within the Human Resource Development Council, the Mauritius Qualifications Authority and Hotel School of Mauritius. Nicolas Autrey is responsible for the overall strategies, policies and practices linked to the management, learning and development of our human resources in line with the LUX* Resorts’ Vision, Purpose and Values.


Guillaume Valet - Group Head of Legal, Secretarial and Corporate Affairs
Born in 1974, Guillaume Valet holds a LLM’s Degree in Business & Corporate Law from France, as well as a Diploma in English Law. Before joining LUX* Resorts in December 2010, as ‘Group Head of Legal, Secretarial & Corporate Affairs”, Guillaume Valet has worked for Audit Firms, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and De Chazal Du Mee, then was in charge of Legal & Corporate Affairs for the Food & Allied Group of Companies for 7 years.

Guillaume Valet is responsible for ensuring that the group complies with standard legal practices, and supersedes all legal and statutory requirements regarding the application of law and regulations. Guillaume Valet interacts with legal advisers, lawyers, registrars, and public authorities, follows up on legal affairs, court cases, insurance claims and proceedings. Being specialized in the drafting of business agreements, Guillaume Valet also drafts reviews and vets contracts for the Company and/or its subsidiaries. He also assists for Secretarial duties, Board matters and administrative, corporate, and compliance duties.


Pritila Joynathsing-Gayan - Chief Internal Auditor
Born in 1978, Pritila Joynathsing-Gayan holds a BSc in Actuarial Science from the University of Kent and is a Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors. Pritila Joynathsing-Gayan has a rich career of more than 10 years in Internal Audit and has assisted several companies in various industries to set up their internal audit function. Prior to joining LUX* Resorts in July 2011, she was the Senior Manager in charge of Risk Advisory Services at PwC, where she set up internal audit and process improvement services. She has extensive experience in hospitality, financial and retail services. Pritila provides an independent and objective assurance to the Chief Executive Officer as well as to the Audit Committee over the effectiveness of LUX* Resorts’ internal control framework, risk management and adherence to good governance. She is also responsible to provide guidance and assistance on specific projects and activities.


Jeff Butterworth - Chief Spa & Wellness Officer
Holder of a Bachelor of Applied Science in Naturopathy as well as numerous qualifications in the field of Homeopathy, Clinical Nutrition, Acupuncture, Aroma Therapy, Biomes therapy and Iridology, Jeff Butterworth is a qualified naturopathic doctor with over 20 years’ experience in the spa and wellness industry. An Australian national, Jeff Butterworth began his career establishing several successful medical practices, lecturing at university and developing several leading health supplements. In 2002, he ventured into the spa industry establishing a 5 star wellness retreat in India. Before joining LUX* Resorts, Jeff Butterworth was the Spa and Wellness Director of TALISE Spa of Jumeirah Group and was responsible of the development and implementation of the Jumeirah Spa Brand, TALISE. Jeff Butterworth is responsible for the implementation of the corporate strategy relating to Spa and Wellness operations for all LUX* Resorts locally and internationally. He manages, trains and coaches the Spa and Wellness activities teams as well as supervises the smooth running of all sections comprising the Spa and Wellness related services thus enhancing the wellness experience offered to our guests.


Dev Poolovadoo - Group Financial Controller
Dev Poolovadoo was born in 1962 and graduated in Accounting and Finance from the United Kingdom. He is one of the first Team Members to join LUX* Resorts (ex-Naiade Resorts) in 1990 as Accountant in the only hotel of the group at that time, Le Tropical. He successfully was promoted from the position of Accountant to Financial Controller and then to Group Financial Controller in 2003. His main accountabilities are to assist the Chief Financial Officer and is also responsible for the financial management of the group and its subsidiaries.



Nitesh Pandey - Chief Quality Assurance and Innovation Officer
Born in 1979, Nitesh Pandey holds a Certificate in Business Management from the Cornell University of New York and has over 13 years’ experience in the Food & Beverage, hospitality and service industry. He has a rich international experience working at different well-known resorts such as The Oberoi & Taj Hotels in India, The Fairmont at Dubai, The Chedi in Muscat, The Setai in Miami, The Nam Hai at Vietnam. Before joining LUX* Resorts, Nitesh was the EAM – Food & Beverage at Shanti Maurice. At LUX* Resorts, Nitesh implements and monitors Quality Standards and Systems of the group. He performs quality system audits and routine-based checks, communicates the corrective measures to General Managers and ensures compliance at all times. He also promotes development of innovative projects for enhancement of creativity throughout the group.


Sydney Pierre - Head of Worldwide Sales
Born in 1971, Sydney Pierre is a holder of a BA in Business Enterprise from the University of Birmingham. Sydney Pierre has more than 15 years’ experience in the Sales & Marketing in the Tourism Industry. He has extensive experience in inbound and outbound tourism, yield, revenue management and in seeking sales opportunities. Sydney ensures the development as well as the performance of all Sales activities across the group in order to achieve the maximum profitability and growth.


Axelle Mazery - Group Press & PR Manager
Axelle Mazery, born in 1977, has a Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from the Institute of Marketing Management of Varsity College, Cape Town and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from The Chartered Institute of Marketing Management, United Kingdom. Axelle Mazery started her career at LUX* Resorts in 2000 as Sales & Marketing Manager and was promoted to the position of Head of Marketing in 2009 then to Group Marketing Manager in 2010. Axelle Mazery is the guardian of the brand standards across the group, in line with the marketing strategy. Axelle Mazery oversees the Communication, Production, E-Marketing and Events departments.


Tobi Kuhlang - Head of Global Revenue Management
Tobi Kuhlang was born in 1976 and is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from The Open University, United Kingdom.  Tobi Kuhlang is a seasoned professional with over 14 years of experience in hotel operations, regional and corporate revenue management and distribution channels.  Before joining LUX* Resorts, Tobi Kuhlang was the Vice President Indirect Sales and Payment Systems of ACCOR SA. At LUX* Resorts, Tobi Kuhlang is responsible to balance the financial objectives of the company in order to maximize revenues and meet Sales & Marketing strategies by overseeing all processes associated with demand, revenue, inventory, distribution, e-commerce, forecasting and opportunity analysis.


Ruben Thumiah - Regional Financial Controller
Ruben Thumiah was born in August 1964 and is a ACCA Certified Accountant. Ruben joined LUX Resorts in 2006 as Regional Financial Controller and his main accountabilities are to assist the Chief Financial Officer in controlling the financial operations of assigned units plus providing solutions and furthermore, being responsible for the TAX compliance of the entire Group.


Hurrydeo Ramlagun - Financial Reporting Manager
Born in 1966, Hurrydeo Ramlagun graduated in 1993 having attended full time course at Emile Woolf College in London. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Before joining LUX* Resorts in 2008, Hurrydeo was the Financial Controller and Company Secretary of the Sugar Investment Trust. He has a rich career of more than 20 years in Audit having started his career in the Audit Division of De Chazal du Mee as Audit Assistant up to Audit Manager and further pursued his career path at Ernst and Young as Senior Manager in the Audit division. As the Financial Reporting Manager of LUX* Resorts, Hurrydeo prepares consolidated financial statements for the entire Group, monitors and guides the Financial Controllers and Accountants of assigned resorts. He acts also as Group Treasury Manager and monitors day to day cash position as well as long term cash flow perspective.



Hotel Managers

Jeremie de Fombelle Jeremie de Fombelle - General Manager, LUX* Le Morne

Jérémie holds an MBA in Hotel Management from the Vatel Institute in Paris and has over 15 years’ experience in hospitality and more precisely a rich knowledge of the Asian continent, where he was the General Manager of renown properties such as Laos’ Leading Hotel, La Residence Phou Vao, The Napasai in Thailand and the Jimbaan Pui Bali Resort by Orient Express in Indonesia. Before moving to Mauritius, Jérémie was the GM of the Wanda Realm Hotel in Changzhou.


Ashish Modak - General Manager, LUX* Belle Mare

"Over 13 years' of international experience in the field of Hospitality Management, Ashish joined Naiade Resorts as Resident Manager at Diva Maldives in July 2009. Before joining our Group, Ashish was at Six Senses Hideaway, Oman, where he occupied the position of 'Executive Assistant Manager (Food & Beverage),' before being promoted in the capacity of Resident Manager in September 2008. He has also spent 3 years at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa in the Maldives, as Director - Food & Beverage and Resort Manager. After more than three years, Ashish left an indelible legacy at LUX* Maldives to join LUX* Belle Mare as 'Resort Manager' in June 2011 . His tenure as Resort Manager at LUX* Belle Mare has been outstanding in every respect and he was promoted in the position of General Manager of LUX* Belle Mare with effect 01st October 2012."

Brice Lunot

Brice Lunot - General Manager, LUX* Grand Gaube

Originally from France, Brice joined the Company in 2007 as Resident Manager of LUX* Grand Gaube. Before this, he enjoyed a rich and varied career in the hotel industry, including Le Meridien in Tahiti and Bora Bora. In 2008, he was appointed General Manager.

Tony Duval Tony Duval - General Manager, Merville Beach Hotel

A Mauritian local, Tony has extensive experience in the Mauritian hotel industry. He was part of the Le Saint Geran team for more than 30 years, moving to La Pirogue Hotel in 2005, where he later became Resident Manager. In 2010, he was appointed General Manager of Merville Beach.

Mario de l'Estrac Mario de L'Estrac

Ile des Deux Cocos: Mario's relaxed personality fits impeccably with the easy-going ambience of Ile des Deux Cocos, where he oversees operations. After a briefly serving as Senior Restaurant Manager/Beverage Manager with us at Les Pavilions hotel from 1998 to 2000,he returned to Naïade in 2004 as Ile des Deux Cocos Assistant Manager and was then promoted to Island Manager in 2007. Passionate about catering and the consummate host with over 30 years' experience in the industry, he is also a qualified Food & Beverages trainer, certified by the Mauritius Qualifications Authority. Since 2008, Mario has been a Disciple d'Auguste Escoffier, meaning he is a member of a prestigious gastronomic association (confrérie) devoted to maintaining the stellar reputation and ageless traditions of French cuisine.

Shaun -Dunhofen

Shaun Dünhofen  - General Manager, LUX* Maldives

Shaun has more than 10 years of hospitality experience in the Maldives and Thailand. Having worked with W Resorts and Per AQUUM Resorts in the Maldives and Thanyapura Retreats & Resorts in Thailand, he is passionate about luxury tropical destinations and works tirelessly with the team to deliver memorable service to all LUX* Maldives guests. Originally from South Africa, Shaun is also fond of martial arts, yoga and free-diving. 

Stephane Baras

Stéphane Baras - General Manager, LUX* Ile de La Réunion and  Hotel le Récif

Stéphane Baras graduated from the Ecole Hoteliere in France, before taking positions in Martinique, Guadeloupe, Turkey and elsewhere. He was appointed General Manager of LUX* Ile de La Réunion and Hotel Le Récif in 2008.
